Setting the retention period and license cap number

Retention allows you to control how long snapshots remain in the Datto cloud. If an organization has an M365 and a Google Workspace SaaS Protection account, the retention settings apply to both.

Setting the retention period

  1. On the SaaS Protection Status page, click the desired organization.
  2. Select Admin > Settings.
  3. In the Retention Period list, select a retention duration. To enter your own duration value, select Custom and in the Custom Retention Period in Days box, enter the number of days each snapshot should be retained.
  4. Click Set.

Setting the License Cap

Setting a license cap value limits the number of licenses for which a organization can be charged. You set the license cap on the Licenses page.

To set the license cap on the Licenses page:

  1. On the SaaS Protection Status page, click Licenses.
  2. In the License Usage Details section, find the desired organization.
  3. In the License Cap column for the organization, click the Edit icon.
  4. Select the Enable License Cap check box.
  5. In the Enter License Cap box, enter a number that is equal to or greater than the amount of licenses currently protected for the organization.
  6. Click Apply.

IMPORTANT  If an organization has reached its license cap number but wants to reduce the existing cap limit, the number of protected seats must be reduced to the desired cap limit (or lower). Then, the cap number can be reduced to the desired limit.
