Legacy Retirement

Datto has made the difficult business decision to retire our legacy Backupify platform. We expect to retire the legacy platform effective June 30th, 2021, officially. We are excited to announce that the latest Backupify platform will be rolled out throughout the next few months. As we begin the roll out of this new platform, we will be officially retiring our legacy platform.

Legacy Data

Upon retiring our legacy platform, the Google Workspace (aka Google Workspace) and Microsoft 365 (aka M365) backup data associated with the legacy platform will be archived and stored in Datto’s instance of Microsoft Azure. The most recent version of your legacy data will be stored in Azure. This will be the last backup taken before your account is cut-over to the new platform.

Accessibility

The data will be accessible on a user by user basis, you will be able to search for users by name or email, but you will not be able to search for data beyond this granularity. Requests for legacy data will take longer than current export times due to the process of requesting data from Microsoft Azure

Limitations

If a single service (i.e., the individual user's Mail, Drive, Exchange, etc.) backed up is larger than 50TB, the service will not be moved to Azure. It should be requested for export or restore from the legacy platform before retirement if needed. Otherwise, these services will be deleted upon the retirement of the legacy platform. Datto will contact you if your company hits this threshold on any given service.

Azure Retention & Security

Legacy data will be stored in Azure for three years after the June 30th, 2021, retirement of the legacy platform, as long as you have an active subscription with Datto. Your legacy data will be stored in the geographic location of where it currently resides. Microsoft Azure uses the same encryption method (256 bit AES) as Datto for security.
