Integrating SaaS Protection with Autotask and BMS

SaaS Protection now can be integrated with Autotask and BMS through Uniview, a cloud backup portal. This article describes the benefits of integrating and the tasks required to do so.

IMPORTANT  To perform the integration, you must be using the v3 SaaS Protection platform.

Integration benefits

Integrating provides the following benefits:

  • 24 hour backup notifications: If backups have not been successful for a particular service (e.g. Exchange) within the last 24 hours, notifications appear in Uniview and in Autotask or BMS.
  • Error alerts within PSA: Error alerts appear in Uniview and in Autotask or BMS. Currently, only the Unauthorized error type will be displayed.
  • Reduced technician workload: Integration reduces the number of actions required for technicians to resolve a problem as it reduces the need to access multiple systems.
  • Automatic ticket component: Enables tickets to be opened and closed based on partner preferences.

How it works

This integration allows you to automatically synchronize backup information between Datto SaaS Protection and Autotask or BMS via Unitrends. SaaS Protection sends backup notifications and error alerts to Uniview. Then, Uniview passes the notifications and alerts to Autotask and BMS, where tickets are created.

NOTE  Uniview is also known as Backup.net, Unitrends MSP, UniView 2.0.

Alerts and notifications as viewed on the Unitrends Dashboard.

Technicians can access service desk tickets within the Autotask and BMS applications. Here is an example of backup notifications listed in BMS.

Selecting a ticket displays the notification details.

Integrating

Integrating requires three tasks that must be performed in this order:

  1. Requesting access to Uniview - A Uniview account is required to integrate SaaS Protection with Autotask and BMS.
  2. Linking your Datto and Uniview accounts.
  3. Enabling your Autotask and BMS integrations.
