Datto SaaS Protection uses the following APIs from Microsoft to back up your M365 data:

  • EWS API - for Exchange services (Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, & Teams Conversations)

NOTE  SaaS Protection of Exchange services will be migrating to the Graph API before the EWS API is deprecated by Microsoft on October 1, 2026. For details, see Microsoft EWS to Graph API migration.

  • OneDrive API - to accommodate OneDrive and SharePoint 2013
  • Sharepoint API - to allow for Teams & SharePoint site management and backups
  • Graph API - Used for active directory & seat management, as well as Teams management.
