Error: "403 FORBIDDEN: The PDF document you tried to upload was not encrypted in SharePoint"

Backups for Microsoft OneDrive, Teams, or SharePoint sites fail to complete. The error message, "403 FORBIDDEN," appears on the SaaS Protection organization reporting page in the Failure Reason column and mentions a specific object that failed to back up.

• Datto SaaS Protection 2.0 for Microsoft 365

Cause

This error can occur when an encrypted item is unable to be decrypted by SharePoint to transmit its contents.

Resolution

Remove the impacted file or move it to another location outside of the backup target. Then, attempt the service's backup again.
