Restoring or exporting data

This article includes procedures for restoring and exporting data. It also offers search methods for recovering data. The procedures are performed the same for all applications except where indicated. A separate backup is run for each service. Each backup is a snapshot of all of the user, site, or team data at the time the backup was created. You can restore or export data using a snapshot or perform these tasks for individual data items. See the topics below for details.

NOTE  SaaS Protection is not designed as a full-scale disaster recovery (DR) solution, though it can technically support recovery needs in the event of data loss or tenant-wide issues.

The platform is optimized for granular, item-level restore and export operations (e.g., individual emails, files, folders, or user accounts). While it is possible to perform large-scale recovery— such as restoring all user mailboxes or SharePoint sites— this process must be done manually on a per-user or per-site basis, which may not meet the recovery time objectives typically required in DR scenarios.
